21 days Uganda & Rwanda Safari
This tour includes: Water Rafting, Boat cruising, Mountain hiking, Nature walks, sight viewing, cultural tours Chimpanzee and gorilla tracking, birding etc
Day One: Head to Jinja Our safari guide or driver will welcome you on your arrival at the Airport and transfer you to the hotel of your budget in Jinja. For visitors that arrive early in the morning will be transferred to Jinja a journey that takes 2 1/2hrs. You will drive heading eastwards and on your way, you will be able to see the coffee, tea and sugar plantations and the colorful roadside fruit and vegetable markets. Then proceed to Jinja having a stopover at Seziwa River (this is the water body that many believe to have been born by a woman) while here you will be told plenty of stories about how the river was formed. You may also have another break in Mabira forest and while in Mabira, you may do a forest walk or visit the picnic sites and this will give you a chance to see some of the primates, birds, butterflies and small insects in a close range. Then proceed to Jinja to see the source of the Nile. On reaching the source of the Nile you will be able to see the spot where Speke first discovered the source then continue to Jinja town for lunch at the hotel of your choice. After lunch, you will visit Owen falls dam for a boat cruise along the banks of the Nile and during the cruise you will be able to see a variety of wildlife with plenty of birds and reptiles then go to kalagala falls where different cultural activities take place like water rafting, Kayaking, Bird watching, Swimming, Nature walks and a number of activities on Bujagali falls like Bungee jumping, Acrobatics, cultural dances etc. Then in the evening embark on your journey back to Kampala. Dinner and overnight at the hotel of your choice.
Day Two: Transfer to Mbale Wake up very early in the morning and after breakfast, report to the starting point to receive instructions from the guide on water rafting. When you’re through with the activity, begin your journey to Mbale via Tirinyi on a good tarmac road. On arrival in Mbale, visit Mount Elgon and most especially the Sippi falls as you enjoy the cool breeze of the Bamasaba Mountains. Dinner and Overnight at one of the hotels in Mbale.
Day Three: Head to Soroti Rise up early in the morning and after breakfast, assemble for instruction about Mountain hiking the begin the one of the days activity. During the hike, you will enjoy the beautiful waterfalls, flora and fauna, caves, Mountain peaks, then gorges and hot springs then after return to your hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, begin your journey to Soroti and on your way you may have a stopover at Nyero paintings before you reach Kumi town for the earliest rock paintings in Africa. Then dinner and overnight at one of the hotels in Soroti (Teso region).
Day Four: Drive to Murchison Rise up early in the morning and after breakfast; begin your journey to the Lira region in search of the Fox weaver bird. You will have lunch on your way then after proceed with your journey via Lira arriving late in the evening. Relax at a lodge of your choice for dinner and overnight. Day Five: Murchison Falls After an early morning breakfast, prepare for a game drive along the Nile Delta on a look out for elephants, buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, waterbuck, and a number of antelopes. Proceed to Pakwach town and here you will be able to see some of the aging ridges in the country. Enjoy a boat ride in the afternoon to the foot of the falls and it is here that you will be able to see huge crocodiles, waterbucks. Hippopotamus and water birds. Continue to the top of the falls and there you will find our safari vehicle ready to transfer your lodge.
Day Six: Drive to Kibale After breakfast, begin the journey to Kibale through the Albertine Escarpment a journey that will take 8-9 hours. Report at the hotel of your choice for dinner and overnight.
Day Seven: Kibale-Semliki Wake up early in the morning and after breakfast; begin your trek in search of Chimpanzees. After lunch, head to the Congo border near the Rwenzori Mountains into the Semuliki national park jungle. On arrival in the park, you will pass through the dense forest that is a habitat to some exotic primates with a variety of bird species and a number of Mammals. You can also have a boat ride on the shores of Lake Albert that gives a clear view for wild life and bird watching. After a long day, return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. Day Eight: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park After an early morning breakfast, begin the day with a nature walk in the forest. During the trail, you will be able to visit the Batwa communities and the hot springs then continue with the journey to Queen Elizabeth National park having lunch on your way. Enjoy a game drive as you enter the park then check in at the hotel of your choice for dinner and overnight.
Day Nine: Queen Elizabeth National park Wake up very early in the morning ready best part of the day. After breakfast, enjoy a game drive in the crater lakes region where you will be able to see various crater lakes including the famous Nyamunuka that is used as an animal hospital then continue to the northern Kazinga channel and here you will get an opportunity to see the early risers as they go back to their hide outs and as you proceed in the parks vegetation that is bushy grassland, acacia woodland, forest grassland and swampy vegetation, you will be able to see a number of bird species. On arrival on the Kasenyi plain that is East of Kasese road, this part has the Kobs mating ground and here there are high chances of viewing a lion awaiting its prey. Return to the park for late breakfast then take a rest as you wait for lunch then drive to Kazinga channel for a boat cruise on the banks of the lake. Kazinga channel is located between Lake George and Lake Edward and its 40km long.
The shore being an attraction to many birds, you will be able see a variety of birds like white-winged warbler, lesser and greater flamingos, African skimmer, pink-backed pelican, the rare shore bill stork, martial eagles etc and a number of elephant families, herds of Buffalos, antelopes as they drink water on the lake then crocodiles and hippos. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight
Day Ten: Transfer to Bwindi Wake up early in the morning and drive to Bwindi via the Ishasha sector an area famous for harboring tree climbing lions then proceed to Bwindi arriving in the afternoon. Bwindi impenetrable national park is located in the montane forest that is a home to some of the remaining Mountain gorillas in the world.
On reaching the park, you will be able to view interesting spectacular birds that include African Green Broadbill, Bar Tailed Trogon and the gorgeous forest or tree species. You will also be able to see the beautiful primates like the Black and white Colobus Monkeys, Blue, Black Faced Red Colobus, and Red Tailed monkeys and Olive Baboons then dinner and overnight at the lodge of your choice Day Eleven: Gorilla tracking Wake up early in the morning and after breakfast; get ready to meet the gorillas.
you are supposed to wear trousers and gumboots because the forest has biting insects and the ground is quite boggy and packed lunch then head to the ranger station for briefing before you enter into the forest with the guides. Begin your search for the gorillas and as you walk, you will notice that there are some primate climbing on tree branches like the baboons, black and white Colobus monkeys, red-tailed and blue monkeys etc and a number of birds.
As you approach the gorillas, you will hear murmuring sound from the bush and when you locate them, you will be filled with joy because it’s a memorable experience. You are only allowed one hour with the gorillas and during this time you will be able to see how the young ones play on tree branches and the way the adults look for their babies, take photos and relax with them then return to your lodge and in the late evening you may participate in the cultural walk. Dinner and overnight at the hotel of your choice.
Day Twelve: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi After breakfast, drive to Kabale known as the “Switzerland of Africa” for yet another adventure at Lake Bunyonyi that is believed to be named after a great number of birds around the Lake. Drive through the beautiful hills, valleys, terraces and lovely people. On arrival on the Lake, you will do about ride and have a view of the beautiful Islands in the lake and the with wonderful terraces while enjoying the cool breeze. After lunch, you will visit the Bakiga museum and here you are given information about the culture and way of life of the people. Dinner and overnight at the hotel of your budget
Day Thirteen: Transfer to Kisoro Early in the morning after breakfast, begin your journey to Kisoro through the beautiful Bamboo forests. Have a stopover in Kisoro town for lunch then proceed to the Batwa camp; you can also visit the local markets and the neighboring communities. In the evening, retire at the hotel of your choice for dinner and overnight. Day Fourteen: Transfer to Rwanda Wake up very early in the morning and after breakfast, you will cross the Uganda-Rwanda border via Kyanika and transfer to the Parc Volcanoes National park in Rwanda. On arrival in Rwanda, you will tour Ruhengeri town then transfer to the hotel of your choice to freshen up then dinner and overnight.
Day Fifteen: Parc Volcano Wake up early in the morning for breakfast and prepare for the awaited events of the day. Drive to Parc Volcano headquarters’ in Kinigi for briefing about the endangered mountain Gorillas. Begin the walk in the forest in search of the gorillas with the help of the ranger and on seeing the primates, you will be given 1 hour to spend with them studying their way of life and the way they interact with each other.
You are allowed to take pictures and record videos and ask a number of questions concerning the gorillas then get back to your hotel for lunch. After lunch, you may visit the twin lakes and local markets in Musanze town and do nature guided walks in the neighboring community then late in the evening return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day Sixteen: Ruhengeri After breakfast, head to the western part of Ruhengeri to the echo tourism site. Here you will be able to see some of the cultural sites, a variety of birds and information about the flora and fauna of the area. After lunch, you will have a guided tour around Ruhengeri town and here you will be able to meet and interact with lively and friendly Banyarwanda. You will also visit the clay fields and see a number of brick makers before retiring to the hotel of your choice for dinner and overnight.
Day Seventeen: Visit to the Lakes After breakfast, our driver will transfer you to the region of the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Here you will be able to see how vegetables and fruits are grown using the traditional farming methods. You will also see how fishing is done as an economic activity in these villages and then after lunch, you will do a boat cruise in the traditional canoes. During the ride, you can visit the traditional healers and the snake man that are believed to solve most of the problems of the people in the neighboring villages.
Day Eighteen: Lake Kivu After breakfast, drive to Kibuye through beautiful hills and deep valleys having a stopover at the hotel of your choice for lunch or go for a boat ride on the shores of Lake Kivu. Retire at the hotel of your choice for dinner and overnight.
Day Nineteen: Visit to the palace After breakfast, head to Nyanza one of the historical seats of Rwanda’s kings then after proceed to Butare one of Rwanda’s genocide memorial sites. After lunch, you may visit the Batwa pottery project and during the visit you will get a brief history about the way of life of the Batwa.Then drive to Kigali for dinner and overnight at the hotel of your choice.
Day Twenty: Kigali City tour After breakfast, you will be picked by our safari driver or travel guide from your hotel and then you proceed for the city tour.
The tour includes among others; Gisozi genocide memorial site, which takes almost 2 hours and here you will learn and understand the history of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda then after that proceed to Kimilonko Market, one of the busiest and biggest market in the city and its here that you will enjoy and buy most of Rwandese delicious food stuffs, African crafts that include Baskets, Mats etc then interact with the local people, visit Nyarutarama Golf club then proceed to the Belgium memorial site and Richard Kandt historical museum; here you will be at the exact point where Kigali city started by a Germany colonialists and administrator in 1907.
You will have lunch at one of the city restaurants and then after lunch, the safari driver will take you to Ntarama and Nyamata Genocide memorial sites outside Kigali.
This will give you a clear view of the revolution of the 1994 tragedy that took place in Rwanda. Here there is no charge for entrance but you can generously give something to help in the preservation of these sites and your offer will be highly appreciated.
Then drive back to Kigali for dinner and overnight at your previous hotel.
Day Twenty One: Departure Depending on your departure flight, prepare yourself and our safari guide/driver will drive you to the Airport as you begin your journey back home.
