If the opportunity of travelling and visiting sites in Jordan at your own pace ,to enjoy the things that really interest you appeals to you, then this could be the right package for you.  Although sometimes it is difficult to understand the roads in Jordan and traffic is hectic in particular in the capital Amman, GPS and the friendly people will always get you to where you want to go.  The roads are generally good and the most you would drive in one day is about 4 hours.  Our experienced staff is always available to help you on the way, and to suggest a restaurant in your area or additional activities/sites to see.


Day 1: 

Arrival to Aqaba. Either we arrange for airport pick-up or guests will pick up their rent-a-car from the airport and self-drive to Aqaba to their hotel. Depending on when the flight arrives, there is the option of driving 45 min. north of Aqaba to Wadi Rum to watch the sunset.

Day 2:

At leisure, leave Aqaba to drive to Wadi Rum to enjoy a 2 hour 4×4 jeep safari.  Other activities available in Wadi Rum are:

    • – ATV
    • – Sand boarding
    • – Hot Air Balloon
    • – Camel ride
    • – Climbing
    • – Paragliding

Note: some of the activities in Wadi Rum are seasonal or dependent on weather conditions

Continue your drive to Petra and overnight there.

Day 3:

Full day tour of Petra and overnight

Optional activities in Petra:

    • – Petra by night tour (operational every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
    • – Learn how cook Middle Eastern food

Day 4:

Leave Petra to drive north to Kerak passing by the Dana Nature Reserve.  The only UNESCO protected reserve in the world that stretches from 1,800 meters above sea level to -400 meters below sea level. As an option stop for an exploratory walk in the reserve. In Kerak visit the Crusader’s castle. Enjoy lunch at the Kerak resthouse or any of the surrounding restaurants there.  Continue your drive to Madaba and if time permits visit St. George’s Church with the famous 6th century mosaic map of Jerusalem.

Day 5:

Madaba – Mt. Nebo, Dead Sea, Amman

Day 6:

Amman, Jerash, Ajlun, possibly Um-Qais – Amman

Day 7:

Amman City  Tour and time for leisure in Amman before returning via the desert highway to Aqaba, or visit the desert castles of Amra & Kharaneh

Day 8:

Departure  or extension
There are other options to include visiting the Ajlun and Dana Nature reserves to either enjoy a walk/hike and/or spend the night in an eco-lodge or in tents.
