Day One: Nyungwe Forest
On arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by a travel guide from Access budget safaris then transfer to Nyungwe national park. On arrival in the park, you will enjoy a guided walk in the forest then return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day Two: Chimpanzee tracking
Wake early in the morning and after breakfast, report to the starting point for a briefing. Begin the search and depending on where the chimps are, it’s always unpredictable to approximate the time it takes. While tracking, you will be able to see other primates like Rwenzori colobus, L’Hoest’s monkey, Silver monkey, Owl faced monkey and the Grey-cheeked Mangabey. Then after a long day, retire at your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day three: Ruhengeri
Drive to northwards to Ruhengeri through the foothills of Parc volcanoes as you enjoy the beautiful scenery of the land of thousand hills arriving late in the night. You will have dinner and overnight at the hotel of your budget.
Day Four & Five: Gorilla tracking
After breakfast, transfer to Kinigi-park headquarters for the briefing about the activity. Begin trekking through the thick forest, swamps, and hills that will take approximately 8 hours. On reaching the gorillas, you will spend 1 hour with them taking photos and recording videos. It’s really amazing. Dinner and overnight at the hotel of your budget. Then the next morning repeat the same procedure in search of the primates that you did see the previous day.
Day Six: Golden Monkey
After breakfast, begin the trek in search of the "little primates" of the Virungas. Trekking will be in groups and it will take the whole day. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day Seven: Departure
Transfer to Kigali and do some of Rwanda's cultural tours that include; local cultures, Genocide memorial centers in Kigali, Ruhengeri, Butare and Gisenyi, the Batwa community in the Northern Province of Ruhengeri, visit some of the orphans at Ross Carr’s orphanage in Gisenyi, Batwa pigmies in Ruhengeri, Royal Palace in Nyanza and hot springs in Rugarama near Nyungwe. Then head to the airport for your flight back home.
