6 DAYS KILIMANJARO CLIMB RONGAI REOUTE SAFARI
DAY 1: RONGAI GATE TO THE FIRST CAVES CAMP
Following the early morning breakfast, depart from Arusha to Marangu Gate with a guide from accessbudgetsafaris where the Porters are to organize and pack belongings for the climb as your Guide and you register with the Tanzania National Park Authority (TANAPA). Then the driver will drive you to the Rongai Trailhead, from where you will start your hike in tall cornfields then continue to pine forest enjoying the surroundings. You will have a Lunch break halfway to 1st Caves Camp then following your lunch proceed to the 1st Caves Camp where you will find Porter have already set up you tents boiled drinking water together with the Chef, prepared snacks for your arrival. Have dinner and overnight but prepare for the cold temperatures at night dropping to freezing.
DAY 2: 1ST CAVES CAMP TO KIKELEWA CAVE
After the early morning breakfast, ascend to Kikelewa Cave passing at the Second Cave where you will have your Lunch from. Following your lunch, proceed with the hike up to Kikelewa Cave where you will find Porters have set up your tents boiled drinking water together with the Chef prepared snacks then dinner. Overnight while prepared for the cold temperatures falling to freezing.
DAY 3: KIKELEWA CAVE TO MAWENZI TARN CAMP
Following the early morning breakfast, continue up to Mawenzi Tarn Camp passing through the Moorland, viewing exotic plants including giant Lobelia and groundsel. You will enjoy wonderful views at the camp as you allow you body to relax, enjoying the magnificent sunset. You will have a hot dinner then overnight.
DAY 4: MAWENZI TARN CAMP TO KIBO HUT
Following early morning breakfast, ascend east for a half day to Kibo Hut which is located in the saddle, and area between the peaks of Mawanzi and Kibo in alpine desert. Here expect no water but you can buy mineral water and soft drinks at the Camp office. Have an early dinner and rest for the night summit attempting. Sleep by 19:00
DAY 5: ATTEMPTING THE SUMMIT
The Guide will wake you up for tea then begin your attempting the summit through a rocky path up to Hans Meyer Cave then to Gillman’s Point. Reaching here is a great achievement as the way is steep, rocky and at a high altitude. Then continue with the hike through a snow covered trail up to the Peak “UHURU PEAK”. Reaching Mt. Kilimanjaro is a great achievement that you will never forget! You are to spend short time here taking photographs and drinking tea then you slope down to Barafu then to Kibo Hut where you will rest and enjoy a well prepared lunch in the sun. Following your lunch, proceed to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 6: HOROMBO HUT TO MARANGU GATE
After the early morning breakfast, there will be great cerebration, singing and dancing as you present your tips to the Guide, assistant Guides, Chef(s) and Porters the descend to Marangu Gate. The National Park requires all hikers to sign their names to receive certificates of completion. Those who reached Gillman’s Point receive green Certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak receive gold Certificates afterwards, the driver will drive you back to Arusha for more cerebrations and long overdue showers.
