Mt. MERU HIKING

THE HIKING TAKES THREE (3) DAYS AND TWO (2) NIGHTS.

DAY 1: ARUSHA TO MIRIAKAMBA HUT

Following your early morning breakfast in Arusha; the driver from Access Budget Safaris will drive you up to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park from where the Porters will prepare and organize the belongings for the climb while you and your Guide register with the Tanzania National Park. You will then begin your hike in Arusha National Park. The first day is like walking safari and you may be able to see animals like antelope, zebras, buffalo and likely elephants along the route. You would be required to move with an armed park Ranger due the expected wild animals. You will pass River NGARENANYUKI and wonderful waterfall at the base of Mt. Meru. On reaching MIRIAKAMBA HUT, you will enjoy the magnificent sunset then dinner overnight.

DAY 2: MIRIAKAMBAHUT TO SADDLE HUT

Following your early morning breakfast, you will begin your hike which will take about four to six hours moving up the step path along the ridge of the saddle and you may get a chance to explore, various wildlife along the way, not forgetting a view of Mt. Meru Crater and Ash Tray.

On your arrival to the camp, you will be served dinner and have enough rest before starting a midnight peak challenge.

DAY 3: SADDLE HUT UP TO THE PEAK THE TO ARUSHA.

The Guide will awake you for tea and then you will then start attempting the peak. The track starts from step grade to Rhino Point then to Cobra Point. Lastly you will be able to pass over a rocky ridge between the Crater and inner cliffs of Mt. MERU. From there, you will be reaching the PEAK as the sunrise thus a wonderful view of Mt. MERU ASH TRAY and Mt. Kilimanjaro.

YES! This is the most interesting hour. From that hour, it will begin your descend to MOMELLA GATE and return to Arusha.
